An audition will be held for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of PINOCCHIO beginning at 9:30 AM at the Nebraska City High School Auditorium on Monday, August 1, 2016. Those auditioning should arrive early (9:15, but not before) and plan to stay for two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. It is a good idea to pack a lunch in case you need to stay for afternoon rehearsal on Monday. No advance preparation is necessary for auditions.
Approximately 50 roles are available for local students. Among the roles to be cast are Pinocchio, the Blue Fairy, Jiminy Cricket, the Fox and Cat, Candlewick and Crew, Urchins, School Kids, Puppets and Toys. Students ages (entering) 1st grade through (entering) 12th grade are encouraged to audition. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students must have completed Kindergarten to audition. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week, and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor Directors will conduct rehearsals every day, Monday through Friday. Although not all cast members will be needed at every rehearsal session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, to be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role AND be on time for all rehearsals. Because so much has to be accomplished during the week before the performance it is critical that students be on time and attentive and in top shape mentally and physically to rehearse. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack lunch or snack.
Pinocchio will be presented two times on Saturday, August 6. At 3 PM and at 6:30 PM. Please let family and friends know so they can reserve this date on their calendars. The students in the cast will be called for dress rehearsal Saturday morning. All cast members must be available for that rehearsal and both scheduled performances. The Missoula Children’s Theater residency in Nebraska city is brought to you by the Nebraska City Fine Arts Committee with financial support from the Nelson Foundation.
